This is probably the most serious page on the site, read on.....

I love to drink and party just as much as anybody else does, hence the site name. However when I was banned from driving for 2 years, for drink driving, life changed drastically. The court gave me the choice to take an alcohol awareness course provided by TTC Group, which I took, lets just say it was an eye-opener. With their consent, I have written this simple, but effective calculator to help people avoid driving over the limit the next day when they think they feel O.K. Be aware that you do not necessarily need to be driving your car or be over the limit to be arrested for drink driving. Just being involved in an accident and breath testing positive for alcohol will almost certainly result in your arrest as you will be unfit to drive, if someone dies as a result of the accident you will be in serious trouble. I hope the following information helps you avoid a disastrous change of life

An amount of alcohol in a drink is a Unit. Drinks have an alcohol content which is given by % AbV. In the U.K the Volume is measured in ml. 1000 ml = 1 litre. We can find the unit content of any drink using the expression,

Units = % X Vol / 1000.

The legal units limit is 5. The legal breath limit is 35 mcg in 100 ml of breath.

" 35 / 5 = 7 ", so 1 Unit is = to 7 mcg in 100 ml of breath. A healthy persons liver can process alcohol at 1 unit per hour + 40 minutes for the 1st unit. Using these values we can make a fairly accurate alcohol consumption, removal and breath test calculator spanning a length of time, in this case 24 Hours.

Using it should be self explanatory, if you prefer you can enter your own values respectively, custom values will override the drop down boxes, it will calculate drinking up to 101 units in 24 hours, which is the equivalent of 2 & a half 1 litre bottles of vodka at 40 %, any higher will return Dead ! !. In my opinion you would be dead as this is excessive for most people. The values are automatically rounded to the highest number to be safe.

Drinks with mixers, E.g. coke, lemonade, etc, speed up the absorption process, most pubs now serve 35 ml and 25 ml shorts for singles, be sure you know what measure is being served to you, this will throw the calculations out and put you over the limit, when you thought you were O.K.

Apart from the obvious, like crashing and possibly killing yourself. Do you really want to be responsible for the death of someone else, maybe even a child, or your own loved ones. Having that on your conscience, while you're serving a lengthy prison sentence and for the rest of your life, I’m sure is not easy to live with.

No No No, you certainly don’t want that. Of course the safest and best thing to do is…

For a guide on the dangers of alcohol and “safe” drinking limits have a look at this website.
Alcohol and Sensible Drinking

These results are based on:

A healthy man, a woman will take longer.

A person who is not on prescribed medicine, Drugs legal or illegal will increase the amount of alcohol in the system.

A natural alcohol level of 0,the body produces natural alcohol.

A person who has had nothing to eat before and after drinking, this will slow down the absorption process, thus increasing the times to be clear.

They apply to the U.K only, other countries may have different measures and limits.

This is a guide to alcohol processing times and breath tests, while it is as accurate as possible, I do not accept any responsibility for any person getting caught driving a vehicle while over the limit after using this guide.
If you are already on a drink drive charge, it should not be used to challenge a forensic report.
Forensic reports take into account a persons body mass, exact drinking times, drinks claimed to be consumed by that person and they work out how long alcohol has been in your system using back calculations.

It’s pointless to deny it, you will inevitably receive a harsher sentence when the magistrates find you guilty. It will be anything from a minimum 12 month ban, a fine and a possible community service order, to 6 months in prison and a £5000 fine.
Think before you plead, courts give credit for admitting drink driving. It is the only law where you are guilty until you can prove your innocence, which as i know from experience is extremely difficult.

If you’ve killed someone then you are looking at a possible 14 years in prison.
